Why is When I First Saw You There special to you?

For me it captures the beauty, the excitement that can be present at the start of a relationship.   How beautiful to honour those first few moments, nurturing the past and present as the relationship grows.

What do you love the most about the finished song?

For me personally, it encaptures the beauty of beach life in Barbados.  In Barbados the sun shines, the heavens irrigate, and there is so much laughter and goodwill in the air.   A special people in a special place;  it is my second home.   It is my glimpse of heaven on earth.

What was the inspiration to write When I First Saw You There?

Many couples enjoy harping back to when they first met, when they first dated, that moment….for the first time.   The excitement, the thrill!  I wanted to capture this in a love song, starting from the very beginning.

Who did you write the song with and why?

This was the very first song that Sasky, Rhea, and I came up with in our jamming session.   It came to us so naturally, and paved the way to several more songs that followed in quick succession.

My name is Jamie Lonsdale, and I'm a singer/songwriter.

Music for me as a child was always my hobby; and now it has become my passion and a big part of my life. I started my career in the Royal Navy - it didn’t even cross my mind that one day I would record an album. My first song came to me five years ago, and luckily for me, they keep on coming…

I try and enjoy my life to the full. I’ve been touched by joy, blessings, and at rare moments, tragic loss; music has supported me throughout all of this. All these experiences have triggered deep emotions, and this I feel has empowered my songwriting.
